Aedes larvae found in Prison Headquarters during anti-mosquito drive
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has found aedes larvae at the Prison Headquarters in the capital's Bakshi bazar area during an anti-mosquito drive on Monday (4 September).
While conducting mosquito extermination and cleaning activities in the prison convention hall and adjacent areas, city corporation workers found Aedes larvae in hundreds of containers such as earthen pots, one-time cups and plates.
According to the city corporation, all containers were then destroyed and cleaned of larvae.
The DSCC urged the Prison Headquarters to keep the area clean to prevent forming breeding grounds of mosquitoes.
About 20 cleaners and 12 exterminators participated in the clean-up and anti-mosquito activities.
During the drive, the prisoners also participated in the cleaning activities, including larviciding and applying adulticides.
Dhaka South City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Dr Mizanur Rahman and Chief Health Officer Md Fazle Shamsul Kabir supervised the operation.
Prison Headquarters' deputy officers and in-charge managers were also present during the operation.
