The stray horse, named “Jheel”, rescued from Hatirjheel area four days ago succumbed to his multiple ailments on Sunday morning.
The veterinary doctors at the Keraniganj animal shelter tried earnestly to save the unlucky horse.
The shelter is operated by animal rights organisation Care for Paws (CFP).
The shelter volunteers named the horse “Jheel”.
“It was suffering from multiple ailments. Its food intake was normal until August 24 night. [But,] Veterinary Consultant Wazed Ali Mollah found the horse dead this [Sunday] morning,” Zahid Hussain, CFP general secretary, said yesterday.
The horse was buried on the animal shelter premises, he added.
CFP volunteers rescued the horse from Hatirjheel area where the animal’s owner left it abandoned.
Initially, the horse was brought to CFP veterinary centre at Jhigatola in the city.
After getting primary treatment, it was transferred to Keraniganj animal shelter for intensive care.
