Army chief pays tributes to sapper freedom fighters
Army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman today (12 December) paid rich tributes to valiant sappers who took part in the country's Liberation War along with other freedom fighters as he joined the annual Commanding Officers' (COs) conference of military's Corps of Engineers at Qadirabad Cantonment.
"The Army chief addressed the Commanding Officers (COs) and others of the Engineers corps present at the conference and discussed various issues, including technical development, research, professional skill enhancement and its future plans," an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
He highlighted the glorious tradition of the Corps of Engineers, known as sappers, in building the country and nation and other activities in serving the country.
The cantonment houses the Engineer Center and School of Military Engineering (ECSME) in Natore.
The army chief expected the corps to continue its commendable role for the national progress through development activities with honesty, sincerity and sense of duty.
On his arrival at the cantonment, Waker-Uz-Zaman was welcomed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army Training and Doctrine Command, commandant of Army Engineer-in-Chief and ECSME commandant.
Other senior military officers of the headquarters, commandant of ECSME, commanding officers of all Engineer Brigades, COs of different units of the corps and media individuals were present on the occasion.
