Army chief returns home from Zambia

Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed returned home on Thursday afternoon after wrapping up his Zambia visit, said an Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) media release Thursday.
On 30 April, General Aziz left Dhaka to Zambia on an invitation to his Zambian counterpart Lieutenant General William Miapambe Sikazwe.
During the visit, the Bangladesh army chief called on the acting Zambian defence minister, the acting air force commander and the commandants of the Zambian Defence Services Command and Staff College besides meeting with the Zambian Army Commander Lieutenant General William Miapambe Sikazwe.
General Aziz also visited various military installations and training institutes in the country during the official trip, said the ISPR release.
On Wednesday, during a meeting with Zambian Defence Services Command and Staff College Commandant Brigadier General Stephen Simusandu, General Aziz Ahmed stressed on further strengthening military training between Bangladesh and Zambia, including in staff colleges in the two countries.
During the visit to various training facilities at Zambia's Defence Services Command and Staff College, he gave a lecture to the trainee officers on military diplomacy and various activities of the Bangladesh Army in this regard.
General Aziz also paid a courtesy call on Zambia National Service (ZNS) Commandant Lieutenant General Nathan Mulenga on May 4.
During this time, he invited the delegation of Zambia National Service to inspect various activities of the Bangladesh Army and to participate in various exercises arranged by the Bangladesh Army on tackling disasters, counter-terrorism, etc.
Lieutenant General Mulenga informed about various activities of his force and welfare-oriented activities for youth development.
General Aziz informed about the various welfare activities of the Bangladesh Army and their involvement in the country's development.
