ASI shot by drug dealers in capital
The alleged drug dealer, Ibrahim Chowdhury, was also injured and has been admitted to the same hospital
An assistant sub-inspector of police (ASI) was shot while trying to arrest a drug dealer in Rayerbazar area on Thursday morning.
The injured ASI is Ujjal Hossain Khan of Rayerbazar Police Outpost. He received a bullet on his leg and is now undergoing treatment at Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital in the capital.
The alleged drug dealer, Ibrahim Chowdhury, was also injured and has been admitted to the same hospital.
Assistant Commissioner of Mohammadpur Zone police, Rowshanul Haque, told the Business Standard, a team of police conducted the drive in the area around 9:30am for arresting the drug dealer following an arrest warrant.
Sensing the presence of police, the four drug dealers opened fire on police, leaving Ujjal injured.
Later, police also fired back, leaving Ibrahim also injured with a bullet, he said.
A revolver and 200 piece yaba pills have been recovered from his possession.
