Assaulting, firing on quota protesters: Case filed against Hasina, Rehana, Quader, 84 others in Sylhet

A case centring assault and firing on student protesters in Sylhet has been filed by a Chhatra Dal leader against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and 84 others.
It was filed with Judge Suman Bhuiyan of the Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Chhatra Dal Sylhet District's Acting President Md Zubar Ahmed filed the case – which also accused police and AL allied organisations – centring the attack on protests in Sylhet's Bandarbazar area on 4 August.
Another 500-600 unidentified people were also accused in the case.
Other notable names made accused are former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former law minister Anisur Rahman, and Salman F Rahman, among others. So far four cases have been registered in Sylhet in connection with the attack on quota reform movement protesters.
Before this, two cases were filed with Sylhet Additional Metropolitan Court regarding the killing of journalists ATM Turab and Rudra Sen.
On Tuesday, another case was filed in the same court alleging an attack on a BNP procession in the Sobahanighat area of the city. Several policemen and Awami League leaders were accused in these cases.
