Bangabandhu could transfom dream into reality: FM

Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen said that it is not easy to translate a dream into reality, and it is also not easy to transmit it to others. But Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman had such a capacity. He dreamt of a prosperous Bangladesh, terming it`Sonar Bangla' and engaged the whole nation in the dream.

The minister said this while addressing a seminar titled "Bangabandhu's The Unfinished Memoirs: A Review" organised by the Bangladesh Institute of International Strategic Studies (BIISS) in the capital on Sunday.

Momen also pointed out some of Bangabandhu's dynamic traits such as fairness and justice. Momen said these were the basic characteristics of the great leader.

"He always stood for the rights of the people, and strived towards justice for the people."

Momen also noted the confidence and non-communal quality of the father of the nation.

The seminar was presided over by Ambassador M Fazlul Karim, Chairman of BIISS.

Kazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, chairman of Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) presented a paper titled "Bangabandu: An Epic of a Nation's Struggle for Self-Determination."

Dr Shamsul Alam, senior secretary at the General Economic Division of the Bangladesh Planning Commission delivered a presentation on "Bangbandhu's Global Vision: Peace and Emancipation."

BIISS Director Major General Emdad Ul Bari delivered the welcome address.

There were lively open discussions at the seminar. Distinguished speakers at the seminar highlighted the charismatic leadership of Bangabandhu that led the nation to emancipation. They focused on the heroic and visionary political life of Bangabandhu, and how he became an inspiration for people across the globe in the context of the postcolonial world.
