Bangladesh envoy presents credentials to Sultan of Oman
The Ambassador mentioned Bangladesh Government’s appreciation for Oman’s support to Bangladesh at the International Fora on the Rohingya issue
Newly appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to Oman Mizanur Rahman has presented the "Letter of Credence" to Sultan of Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tariq at the Palace located adjacent to the capital city of Muscat.
The Ambassador mentioned Bangladesh Government's appreciation for Oman's support to Bangladesh at the International Fora on the Rohingya issue and sought Oman's continued cooperation in this regard.
The Head of Royal Protocol of Oman received the Ambassador at his arrival to the Palace on Monday and was escorted to the guard of honor point, said a media release on Tuesday.
The event started with the tune of the National Anthem of Bangladesh and Oman played by the band of the Royal Force followed by guard of honor.
Ambassador Mizanur Rahman, at the Royal hall, presented his Letter of Credence to Haitham bin Tariq. The Sultan received the Letter of Credence and welcomed the Ambassador.
Foreign Minister of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi, Minister of State for Diwan of Royal Court Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Minister of State for Royal Office were present at the credential ceremony.
The Ambassador expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Sultan of Oman for receiving him and conveyed the greetings of President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Mentioning Oman as one of the first countries in the GCC who recognized Bangladesh after its Independence under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Ambassador expressed deep gratitude and thanks to the Sultan of Oman for the kind support and care for the Bangladeshi expats living in Oman during the pandemic Covid-19.
He mentioned about the yearlong celebration of "Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of Bangladesh."
In this regard, he added that the Sultan's gracious presence will be historical and shall mark a milestone in the Bangladesh-Oman bilateral relations. The Sultan of Oman appreciated the invitation and assured of due consideration.
Ambassador also highlighted on the need for promotion of mutual trade and investment.
At the conclusion, the Sultan assured of all out support of the Sultanate to the Ambassador towards discharging his responsibilities.
