Bangladesh slips in peace index again
Iceland has retained its position as the most peaceful country since 2008
Bangladesh has dropped nine places in the latest ranking of Global Peace Index 2019.
According to the latest report of the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) published on June 12, Bangladesh has been ranked 101st among 163 countries with a global score of 2.128. Last year, its position was 93 rd with a score of 2.084.
Iceland has held its position as the most peaceful nation on Earth followed by New Zealand, Portugal, Austria and Denmark. Iceland has retained its position as the most peaceful country since 2008.
Afghanistan is now the least peaceful country in the world, replacing Syria.
The index also indicates that the world's overall peacefulness has improved for the first time in five years - although only marginally.
