Bangladesh Tariff Commission and MCCI jointly hosts seminar on anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguard measures
Bangladesh Tariff Commission and Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Dhaka jointly arranged a seminar titled "WTO Agreement on Anti-dumping, Countervailing & Safeguard Measures and Role of Bangladesh Tariff Commission".
The seminar was organized today at 10.30am at the M Anis Ud Dowla Conference Hall in Police Plaza Concord in the capital's Gulshan-1.
The seminar was chaired by Anis A Khan, vice president of MCCI, Dhaka. Tapan Kanti Ghosh, secretary of The People's Republic of Bangladesh and chairman of Bangladesh Tariff Commission.
"No industrial entities apply for the imposition of tariffs under the laws and regulations of under anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguard measures despite the tariffs existing in Bangladesh," Tapan said.
"Moreover, the industrial entities cannot take effective action if their products are subjected to taxes in another country," he added.
Bangladesh Tariff Commission member Dr Mostafa Abid Khan spoke about "WTO Agreement on Anti-dumping, Countervailing & Safeguard Measures" and Joint Chief of Bangladesh Tariff Commission Roma Dewan spoke about "Rules and Regulation on Trade Remedy Measure in Bangladesh and Role of Bangladesh Tariff Commission".
The seminar ended with Faruk Ahmed, secretary-general of MCCI, delivering the closing statement after the question-answer session.
