Bangladeshi American Ryan Reza elected as Kansas Young Democrats president
Ryan is the first Bangladeshi American who got elected as the president of Young Democrats in the US
Bangladeshi American Ryan Reza has been elected as the president of Young Democrats in Kansas state, prominently recognised as the geographic center of the contiguous United States recently.
Ryan, a sophomore at the Kansas State University double majoring in political science and global and international studies, a press release said.
Previously, Ryan also served as the secretary and vice-president of Kansas Young Democrats.
His family is actively involved in mainstream American politics and his father Rehan Reza became a member of the Kansas Democratic Party in 2004 and held different leadership positions. He was the secretary of the Democratic Party in Kansas. He also got elected as the delegate of the Democratic Party from the State of Kansas to select the Democratic presidential nominee in the upcoming Democratic National Convention to be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in August.
Rehan Reza was also the chairman of the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA).
Ryan is the first Bangladeshi American who got elected as the president of Young Democrats in the US. As the leader of young democrats, Ryan will represent members of Kansas Young Democrats in the United States.
Ryan said that "I would like to see that Bangladeshi American is getting involved in mainstream American politics. As a first Bangladeshi American president of the Young Democrats, I would like to show that Bangladeshi people and Muslims are capable of the higher leadership positions in American politics. I also want to set an example for the young Bangladeshis in the United States."
