Banks to remain open on weekends before Eid

Bangladesh Bank has directed all banks to keep their industrial area branches open on weekends – August 9 (Friday) and August 10 (Saturday) – to facilitate business transactions and payment of salaries to garment workers ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
According to a Bangladesh Bank circular issued on Friday, branches in Dhaka city, Ashulia, Savar, Tongi, Gazipur, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chattogram will remain open on those two days.
The central bank also instructed the banks to operate the branches for full time ensuring proper security.
