Banned Chhatra League holds flash procession in Ctg
The banned student organisation Chhatra League staged a flash procession early today (30 January) between 6am and 6:20am at the GEC Intersection area under Khulshi police station in Chattogram, marking its first public appearance since the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August 2024.
According to police sources, the procession was led by Mizanur Rahman, former vice president of Chhatra League's Chattogram South District unit, and Atik, an organiser from Chattogram College Chhatra League.
The event was reportedly part of efforts to implement the Bangladesh Awami League's scheduled programmes for February.
Prior to this, activists of the organisation had also brought out processions at midnight in Chattogram's Jamal Khan and Prabartak intersection areas.
Approximately 25-30 participants took part in the early morning march, which started in front of the GEC Convention Center and proceeded towards Hotel Zaman before dispersing.
A video of the procession circulating on social media shows participants chanting slogans such as "No worries for Sheikh Hasina, we did not leave city roads," and "In the Bengal of Mujib, there is no space for Razakars."
However, when contacted, the deputy commissioner (Crime) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police could not confirm the incident.
