Barrister Mehedi shown arrested in murder case, sent to jail
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain passed the order accepting a plea from the investigating officer of the case- Adabor Thana Inspector Abdul Malek
A Dhaka Court today sent former Additional Attorney General Barrister Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury to jail after showing him arrested in RMG worker Rubel murder case with Adabor Thana of the capital.
The accused was produced before the court around 8:30am this morning.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain passed the order accepting a plea from the investigating officer of the case- Adabor Thana Inspector Abdul Malek.
The lawyer of the accused, on the other hand, pleaded for bail. Eventually, the court scrapped the plea and ordered to send him to jail.
Earlier on 10 September, Mehedi was detained by Jhenaidha Zila Police while allegedly trying to cross the border illegally.
According to the case, garment worker Rubel was shot while attending a protest rally on 5 August, near Ring Road area of Mohammadpur in the capital. He was declared dead by the duty doctors of a nearby hospital later.
On 22 August, his father Rafiqul Islam filed the case with Adabor Thana against 156 including the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, AL general secretary and former transport minister Obaidul Quader, members of the parliament - actor Ferdous, cricketer Sakib-al Hasan and Barrister Sayedul Haque Sumon and many.
