BCSM demands autopsy after exhuming child migrant worker Kulsum’s body
They also demanded strict legal action against the recruiting agency and government officials, who helped Kulsum to go abroad
Bangladesh Civil Society for Migrants (BCSM) has demanded the body of14-year old Umme Kulsum, who was tortured to death in Saudi Arabia, be exhumed for autopsy with the consent of her family.
The demand was made in a joint statement by 19 member organizations of the BCSM, a platform for migrant worker rights, on Tuesday.
The organizations called on the government to take appropriate action against those involved in the incident in accordance with Saudi law.

With the help of local broker Razzak Miah, the girl from Brahmanbaria was sent to Saudi Arabia as a domestic worker through MH Trade International 17 months ago.
It cost her Tk30,000.
According to her family, the employer started physically abusing Kulsum after she joined the workplace.
Her family members contacted the concerned agency several times to take action and bring back Kulsum but the agency did not take any step.
Kulsum's employer in Saudi Arabia and his son severely tortured her.
They broke her legs and knees and injured her waist.
They also injured one of her eyes and left her on a street.
Later, she was rescued by Saudi police and taken to King Faisal Hospital, where she died on August 9.
Her body arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on September 11.
She was buried at her village Nurpur under Gokorna union in Nasirnagar upazila in Brahmanbaria the next day.
