Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 4.30 lakh contraband yaba tablets, worth about Tk12.90 crore from Cox's Bazar's Teknaf.
Major Shariful Islam Zomaddar, a commander of BGB Battalion-2, said, "We got a tip-off that a large number of yaba tablets are being smuggled into the country from Myanmar."
"A BGB patrol team took position at Hajirkhal near BSP outpost. We saw 4/5 smugglers entered into Bangladesh territory," he added.
Being challenged by the BGB team, the smugglers fled the scene leaving behind the Yaba tablets. Later BGB recovered 4.30 lakh yaba tablets.
The contraband tablets were destroyed at the BGB headquarters afterwards.
