‘Big Boss’: the boss of Sylhet’s cattle market
Big Boss is just 4 years old
A giant bull named 'Big Boss' is the hot topic at Sylhet's cattle market for upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.
With a white spot on its massive body and another on its forehead resembling royalty, the mighty bull is priced at a hefty Tk25 lakh.
Big Boss weighs around 1,300 kg and is six feet tall with a width of 11 and a half feet.
Born in Rajshahi and brought up in Sylhet, this is the biggest Qurbani animal of Sylhet so far this year.
The owner of the bull is Shahid Ahmed, founder of the Shahid Dairy Farm in Beanibazar where the bull resides.
Shahid said he purchased a small calf from Rajshahi and out of adoration named it Big Boss, which is now one of the largest bulls in the country.
“Big Boos became famous after I posted his picture on Facebook. Many people are coming to see him,” he said.
But how the little calf turned into a giant bull?
“Big Boss has never been given any antibiotics or harmful medicines. His diet is rather organic and consists of dried grass, whole grains, fruits such as apples and oranges, and vegetables like carrots and cucumbers,” said shahid.
Curious crowd from across the district are gathering at the farm to have a look at the great bull. Some of the visitors are even asking for a price.
One of the visitors from Gopalganj, Rubel Ahmed, said, “I have never seen a bull that is as immense as him before.”
Beanibazar Upazila Livestock Officer Ranjit Kumar Acharya informed that Big Boss is just 4 years old.
“A cow is generally considered an adult at 6 years of age,” he said.
According to him, Big Boss has reached 75 percent of his physical growth and in the next two years, he will grow 25 percent more.
