Body of one of the five fishermen allegedly abducted by members of the Arakan Army in Myanmar two days ago was recovered from Naf River in Cox's Bazar yesterday (16 November).
The deceased was identified as Saidul Bashar, 19, said Gafur Uddin Chowdhury, chairman of Palongkhali union in Ukhiya.
However, there is no trace of the other four missing fishermen – Mohammad Yusuf, Lutfur Rahman, Saiful Islam and Yusuf Jalal.
Gafur Uddin said on 15 November, the five Bangladeshi fishermen went fishing in the Naf River and were "abducted" by members of Myanmar's separatist Arakan Army.
Mohammad Arif Hoshain, officer-in-charge of Ukhiya police station, said this morning, locals found a dead body in the Naf River in the Rahmat Bill area of Palongkhali union, adjacent to the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.
The body was recovered and later sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, he added.
