Brac founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed passes away
His body will be kept at the Army Stadium on December 22 from 10:30am to 12:30pm for people to pay their last tribute. His namaz-e-janaja will be held at the stadium at 2:30pm.
Brac Founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed passed away at 8:28pm on Friday. He was 83 years old.
He left behind his wife, a daughter, a son, three grandchildren, and a host of wellwishers to mourn his death.

He will be laid to rest at the Banani graveyard. Sir Fazle Hasan was undergoing treatment for brain tumour at Apollo Hospital.
"Fazle Hasan Abed's self-dedication, professionalism and strong moral stance were what made him the respected 'Abed bhai' to the entire Brac family," Brac Global Board Chairperson Amira Huq said in a statement.
"Respecting people was very important to him. Even when Brac became a globally recognised organisation, his priority was working for the underprivileged people of the society. Sir Fazle Hasan Abed was a rare example of honesty, modesty and humanity," she added.
Founder of the world's largest non-governmental organization, Sir Fazle Abed retired as the chairperson of Brac Bangladesh and Brac International in August this year.
He then became the chair emeritus of the organisation.
Sir Abed was honoured with the Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau on November 20, for his tremendous contribution in alleviating poverty, especially of women and children.
He is also the lone Bangladeshi to be honoured with a knighthood by the British Crown, and he was knighted in 2010.
Sir Abed also founded the Ayesha Abed Foundation - popularly known as Aarong - the first enterprise of Brac to honour the memory of his late wife. He took the initiative to preserve the Bangladeshi people's heritage and culture, and to make rural women independent.
He has been honored with numerous national and international awards for his contributions in social development, including the LEGO Prize (2018), Laudato Si' Award (2017), Thomas Francis, Jr Medal in Global Public Health (2016), World Food Prize (2015), Spanish Order of Civil Merit (2014), Leo Tolstoy International Gold Medal (2014), WISE Prize for Education (2011) and many others.
