BSF hands over Bangladeshi cattle trader’s body after two days
On September 4, Najim along with other cattle traders, were on their way to India via Nimtala border to bring cattle
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday handed over the body of a Bangladeshi cattle trader to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) two days after he was killed on the Bangladesh-India border in Chuadanga.
The body of 34-year-old Najim Hossain was handed over to BGB officials at the zero point between Chuadanga's Darshana Jayanagar and India’s Gede border area at 10pm.
“A flag meeting between the BGB and the BSF was held on September 5 near Nimtala border, where BSF officials confessed that they had gunned down Najim while he had been crossing into India,” said Rezaul Karim, camp commander of Jibannagar Dhopakhali BGB.

On September 4, Najim along with other cattle traders, were on their way to India via Nimtala border to bring cattle. At one stage, BSF members from Mathpara camp opened fire on them.
“Najim sustained bullet injuries when BSF officials shot fires while the other traders managed to flee. Later, Najim succumbed to his injuries while being taken to an Indian local hospital by BSF,” Rezaul said.
Naijm hailed from Chuadanga Sadar upazila.
Rezaul said the BGB handed over Najim’s body to Jibannagar police station on Friday night. Officer-in-Charge of the police station Sheikh Gani Miah later handed over the body to his elder brother Ratan Miah.
