BSF 'attempts to strengthen barbed wire fence' with bamboo in Lalmonirhat border
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has allegedly attached slices of bamboo to the erected barbed fence along the Zero Line of the border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat.
A video footage showing some BSF members setting up the slices of bamboo to strengthen the barbed fence with the help of locals went viral on social media today (30 January).
At this time, an argument erupted between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and BSF members, shows the video.
Noticing this, the on-duty BGB members obstructed them from erecting it but the BSF men continued it despite objections.
One of the BGB members reminded the BSF members that there will be no construction along the border as per the decision of the high officials of the both countries.
In reply, a BSF member in Hindi said, "We will do the work, you do whatever you can," shows the video.
Locals said the BSF members were attaching the bamboo pieces to the fence along Dahagram border on Tuesday.
Md Jamil, a subedar of the BGB-51 Battalion in Patgram, said they stopped the bamboo setting work.
However, it happened three to four days back, he said.
Earlier, the BSF erected the four and half foot high barbed fence spanning one and half kilometre areas in Patgram on 10 January.
