Business process outsourcing summit held in Ctg
Leading BPO companies of the country have also collected the CVs of interested job seekers at the event
The Bangladesh Association of Contact Centre and Outsourcing (Bacco) hosted the first ever divisional business process outsourcing summit and a job fair in Chattogram on Thursday aiming at creating new job opportunities for the youth.
The summit took place at the Chattogram Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
Chairing the event, Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Abul Bashar Mohammed Fakhruzzaman said, "There is no alternative to acquiring skills at this age of technological advancement. Educated youth has to adapt to the evolving technology to become successful."
He added, "Due to rapid technological progress, primary and secondary jobs are disappearing all over the world. Therefore, the youth should prepare themselves with communication and negotiation skills, and adequate knowledge."
He also highlighted the importance of learning foreign languages, which can help freelancers become more efficient by getting ideas about various aspects of foreign culture.
Towhid Hossain, general secretary of Bacco, said, "The organisation aims to create one lakh jobs in the BPO sector by 2025. Currently, more than 70,000 people are working in this sector. This year, at least 1,000 jobs will be created for the young generation through the job fairs at divisional BPO summits."

Business process outsourcing summit has been organised for the first time in the divisional cities with the aim of developing a skilled workforce in the BPO industry, and utilising the potential of IT-based industries.
