Govt to procure 50,000 MTs rice
A cabinet committee also approved 11 other purchase proposals including two separate ones for procuring 6.25 lakh metric ton of fertiliser
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved a proposal to procure 50,000 metric ton of non-basmati rice through international quotation from PK Agrilink Private Limited, India with around Tk176crore.
The price of each kilogram of rice will be Tk35.27, while a metric ton of rice will cost $416.
The approval came from the CCGP at a meeting held virtually on Wednesday with Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq in the chair.
The committee also approved 11 other purchase proposals including two separate ones for procuring 6.25 lakh metric ton of fertiliser.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal said the meeting okayed a proposal under which 6 lakh metric ton of DAP fertiliser would be procured in line with the state-level agreement between MA'ADEN, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation with a cost of around Tk2,098 crore.
