Chittagong University appoints new proctor, deans
The appointments were announced in two separate notifications signed by the university’s Acting Registrar KM Nur Ahmed
The Chittagong University (CU) administration today (22 September) appointed Professor Tanvir Mohammad Hayder Arif as the new proctor of the university.
New deans for nine faculties of the university were also appointed on the same day.
The appointments were announced in two separate notifications signed by the university's Acting Registrar KM Nur Ahmed.
Professor Tanvir from the Finance Department will serve as the proctor for the next one year from the date of joining with applicable benefits and allowances.
"The terms of our previous deans ended in March. Later, they were kept on as additional charges. As per the university rule, the current administration has relieved all of them and appointed new deans until further notice or a new election is held," the acting registrar told The Business Standard.
As per the notification, Professor Md Iqbal Shahin Khan from the Department of Philosophy will serve as the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Professor Mohammed Al Amin from the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences will serve as the dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor SM Nasrul Quadir from the Department of Finance will serve as the dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Professor Md Alauddin Majumder from the Department of Economics will serve as the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Jafar Ullah Talukder from the Department of Law will serve as the dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Md Atiar Rahman from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will serve as the dean of the Faculty of Biology, Professor Mohammad Sanaullah Chowdhury from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering will serve as the dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Professor Md Shahdat Hossain from the Institute of Marine Sciences will serve as the dean of the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries.
In addition, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Muhammad Yahya Akhtar, will himself serve as the dean of the Faculty of Education.
