Construction workers raise 12-point demand
Their demands include at least Tk15 lakh compensation for workplace death
The country's building construction workers raised a 12-point demand including at least Tk15 lakh compensation to the families of workers killed in workplace accidents.
Leaders of Building Construction Workers Union Bangladesh (BCWUB) raised the demand from a human chain formed in front of the National Press Club on Monday.
Other demands of the workers include workplace safety, healthy environment, proper treatment of injured workers, adequate compensation, housing, pension scheme, rationing, social security and adequate financial assistance form Workers Welfare Fund to families of dead workers and permanently injured workers.
Presided over by BCWUB President MD Rabiul Islam, the human chain programme was addressed by General Secretary of the organisation Abdur RazzakBangladesh Trade Union Centre President Shahidullah Chowdhury, General Secretary Dr Wajedul Islam Khan and other leaders of BCWUB.
