The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a wealth statement notice to eminent music director and singer Shawkat Ali Emon.
The ACC issued the notice after gathering evidence in its initial investigation that Emon has accumulated illegal wealth worth around Tk3 crore outside his known and declared income.
A notice signed by ACC Director Abdul Gaffar was sent from the head office of the anti-graft organisation to Emon's home in the capital's Eskaton Gardens on Wednesday.
The ACC notice has asked him to submit his wealth statement within the next 21 working days.
According to the notice, in initial investigation, the ACC has found evidence that Emon has become the owner of a large amount of wealth in his own name or anonymously. Therefore, within 21 working days of receiving the notice he has been asked to submit a statement of all movable and immovable property, including sources of income and details of his acquisitions, owned by him and his family members, in the prescribed form.
