ACC probes former cricket captain Durjoy, two others for corruption
The ACC has received allegations of money laundering, irregularities in government projects, and the accumulation of illegal assets both domestically and abroad against them.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today (3 September) launched an investigation into allegations of corruption against several individuals, including former Bangladesh cricket team captain and former member of parliament Naimur Rahman Durjoy.
ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Akhtarul Islam confirmed to TBS that investigations have been initiated against Durjoy, former Rajshahi-4 MP Enamul Haque, and Tamal Munsur, the son of former health minister Mohammad Nasim.
The ACC has received allegations of money laundering, irregularities in government projects, and the accumulation of illegal assets both domestically and abroad against these individuals. The investigation is based on information gathered by the ACC's intelligence unit.
Durjoy is accused of various irregularities and corruption, including the misuse of power for personal gain.
Enamul Haque is alleged to have accepted bribes of Tk4-5 lakh in exchange for providing government jobs in his constituency.
Tamal Munsur, while still a student, is accused of using his father's influence to embezzle funds through a government contract. He allegedly embezzled Tk175 crore by supplying substandard goods at Shahid Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital in Gazipur.
Tamal is also alleged to have laundered money abroad by purchasing property in the United States.
The ACC is conducting a thorough investigation into these allegations and will take appropriate action based on the findings.
