Ex-minister Dipu Moni, husband sued over Tk39cr graft allegations
They have been sued under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former social welfare minister Dipu Moni and her husband Tawfique Nawaz on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk7.88 crore and suspicious transactions of Tk31.09crore.
They have been sued under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, ACC Director General (Prevention) Akhtar Hossain told reporters in the capital today (10 February).
Dipu Moni is accused of abusing her power and acquiring assets worth Tk5.92 crore beyond known source of income, suspicious deposits of Tk31.09 crore in 28 accounts operated in her name in various banks, and suspicious transactions through transfer and conversion of this money, said Akhtar.
The ACC official, however, did not provide details on the timing of the transactions.
Meanwhile, Nawaz is accused of abusing his power and colluding with Dipu Moni through bribery and corruption while he was performing his duties as a public servant, acquiring assets worth Tk1.96 crore outside his known source of income, said Akhtar.
