Court has instructed Ramu police to hand over Shipra’s 29 items to RAB

A Cox's Bazar court has instructed Ramu police to hand over 29 items belonging to Shipra Devnath including a laptop, and a desktop to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). 

Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah passed the order today after hearing the petition filed by RAB. Officer-in-charge of Cox's Bazar Court police Pradip Kumar Das confirmed the matter to the Business Standard. 

Earlier on August 17, Ashik Billah, director of the RAB's legal and media wing, said at a press briefing,"The main witnesses of the Sinha murder, Shipra and Shahedul Islam Sifat's 29 items are in the custody of the police at Ramu Police Station. The computer device will be helpful to get important information in the investigation of the case."

Meanwhile, Shipra and her lawyer returned on Wednesday afternoon on their way to Ramu police station to file a case under the Digital Security Act-2018. As the High Court was hearing the writ petition on the same issue, they did not file the case and waited for the High Court's instruction on the writ.

Shipra's Lawyer Mahbubul Alam Tipu said, "On August 16, Supreme Court lawyer Monoj Kumar Bhowmik filed a petition at the High Court challenging the two police officials' action of posting personal photographs of Shipra Debnath, but the hearing was not held on Tuesday. The first hearing of the petition was held today. The second hearing is scheduled to be held tomorrow. For this reason, Shipra has refrained from filing a case at Ramu police station in Cox's Bazar."
