Altaf George placed on fresh two-day remand
A Dhaka court today placed former Awami League (AL) lawmaker from Kushtia-4 constituency Selim Altaf George on a two-day fresh remand in a case filed over killing an auto-rickshaw puller at Mohammadpur.
Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Arafatul Rakib passed the order as investigation officer (IO) Altaf Hossain prayed for a five-day fresh remand for him upon completion of his three-day remand.
Detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Altaf from Dhaka's Lalmatia area on 17 September.
The murder case was filed in connection with the death of an auto-rickshaw driver Md Roni on 19 July at Mohammadpur area during the student-led protests.
Roni suffered bullet injuries in front of the primary school on Nurjahan road at about 1pm on that day. Doctors declared him dead after admitting to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College.
A murder case was registered with Mohammadpur Police Station to this end.
