BNP councillor candidate in Dhaka city polls sent to Jail
A BNP-backed councillor candidate in the upcoming Dhaka City Corporation election was sent to jail in a sabotage case on Friday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam passed the order.
Tajuddin Ahmed Taju is a councillor candidate for no 32 ward of Dhaka South City Corporation. Taju is also the president of Bangshal Thana unit of BNP.
Bangshal Police produced him before the court after arresting him in front of Returning Officer's office on Thursday. He was returning after submitting his nomination paper.
Taju was accused of a case for burning vehicles filed with the police station, said Helal Uddin, assistant sub-inspector of Bangshal Police Station (CMM court).
