Dr Sabrina put on 3-day remand
The court granted the remand when Dr Sabrina was produced before the court with a 4-day remand plea
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court today placed JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury on a three-day remand for her alleged involvement in providing fake Covid-19 test certificates.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman granted the remand when Dr Sabrina was produced before the court with a 4-day remand plea.
The lawyer of the accused applied for a bail seeking cancellation of her remand.
Earlier, The health ministry suspended Dr Sabrina from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).
On Sunday, Dr Sabrina was summoned to the police station for quizzing initially and later in the afternoon, she was shown arrested in the case after the interrogation.
Dr Sabrina, a registrar doctor of the government healthcare institute, was temporarily dismissed as per government service rule 2018, said a suspension order signed by Health Secretary Abdul Mannan on Sunday.Jobeda Khatun General - JKG Health Care, a sister concern of Oval Group, came into the discussion when police, on June 23, detained five people in the capital for their alleged involvement in providing Covid-19 test certificates without testing samples.
Later on June 24, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revoked the permission that allowed JKG Health Care to collect Covid-19 samples, set up sample collection centres and provide training.
