Ex-Ctg MP Nadvi placed on 4-day remand
Several cases were filed against Nadvi following the ouster of the Awami League government on 5 August last year, at Satkania, Lohagara and other police stations in the port city
A Chattogram court has placed former Chattogram-15 MP Abu Reza Nezamuddin Muhammad Nadvi on a four-day remand in two Explosive Substances Act cases against him.
Chattogram Senior Judicial Magistrate Muminunessa Khanam passed the order today (22 January) after police produced Nadvi before the court with a six-day remand plea, three days in each case.
Confirming the matter, Chattogram District Court Inspector Habibur Rahman told The Business Standard that the investigating officer in the cases sought a three-day remand in two cases each. However, after the hearing, the court granted a two-day remand in each case.
"He [Nadvi] has been sent to prison under police security," added Habibur.
Several cases were filed against Nadvi following the ouster of the Awami League government on 5 August last year, at Satkania, Lohagara and other police stations in the port city.
He was detained by the Detective Branch (DB) of police from Uttara in the capital on 15 December.
Nadvi was elected lawmaker from Chattogram-5 (Satkania-Lohagara) constituency with the Awami League ticket in the 2014 and 2018 parliamentary polls. He contested for the same seat in the 2024 polls and lost to an independent candidate.
