Ex-director of Data Centre sent to jail over 'selling NID info'
A Dhaka court today sent former director of the Data Center Tareque M Barkatullah to jail in a case lodged for allegedly selling citizens' National ID (NID) information.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars till the end of the probe.
The detective branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Tareque M Barkatullah from the capital's Kafrul area on 9 October.
One Enamul Haque filed the case against 19 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's son and her ICT adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
