Ex-MP Rozy remanded in murder case
A Dhaka court today placed former lawmaker and Narsingdi district Awami League (AL) leader Dr Engineer Masuda Siddique Rozy on a two-day remand in a case lodged over killing one Sirajul Bepari in the capital's Badda area on 5 August.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order as police produced Rozy before the court and pleaded to place her on five-day remand in the case.
Masuda Siddique Rozy was arrested from her Khilkhet home last night (Wednesday).
According to the case documents, Sirajul Bepari joined Anti-discrimination Student Movement procession on 5 August . As the procession came in front of the Brac University campus, Awami League cadres started firing on them. Three bullets hit Sirajul, leaving him dead on the spot.
Sirajul's cousin Hasibul Hasan Lavlu filed the case on 1 September against 114 accused, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
