HC refuses to cancel Minni's remand
“We do not want to interfere in this case at this stage,” said the High Court in its ruling.
The High Court (HC) Thursday refused to cancel the five-day remand of Ayesha Siddiqua Minni, wife of slain Barguna youth Rifat Sharif.
The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice M Kamrul Kader passed the order following a plea by an independent lawyer seeking the High Court’s suo moto move to cancel the remand.
“We do not want to interfere in this case at this stage,” said the High Court in its ruling.
“There’s a scope for application in the lower court. You can go and apply for the chance of the court,” it added.
There is also an opportunity to apply for the trial in the High Court, they said further.
Supreme Court lawyer Faruk Hossain made the plea and told the court that Minni is the principal witness of the case but police arrested her as an accused of the case.
“She (Minni) is yet to recover the shock of her husband's killing but she was arrested in the case which is inhuman and illogical,” said Faruk.
