Jubo League leaders Samrat, Arman indicted in narcotics case
The court also issued arrest warrant against the duo, cancelling their bail and time petitions in the case
A Dhaka court today (30 January) framed charges against former president of Dhaka City South Jubo League Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat and his associate and fellow party leader Enamul Haque Arman in a narcotics case filed with the city's Ramna Police Station.
The court also issued arrest warrant against the duo, cancelling their bail and time petitions in the case.
Judge Mohammad Saifur Rahman Majumder of Dhaka 7th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court passed the order after a hearing on the matters.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat and Arman from a village in Cumilla's Chauddagram upazila on 6 October 2019 in connection with the case.
On 7 October 2019, Deputy Assistant Director of RAB-1 Abdul Khaleq filed a case against them under the Arms Act 1878 and the Narcotics Control Act 2018.
RAB on 9 December 2020 submitted charge sheet against them in the case.
Meanwhile, Md Ibrahim Miah, Judge of the Special Tribunal-2 of Dhaka on 28 January framed charge against Samrat in the arms case. The court also cancelled his bail and issued arrest warrant against him.
