No farewell to justices mired in corruption, nepotism, misconduct: SCBA

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has decided not to accord farewell to the judges of Appellate Division and the High Court (HC) if any allegation of nepotism, corruption and professional misconduct surfaces against them.
The association came up with the decision at its executive committee meeting, said a press release issued on Wednesday.
The SCBA also welcomed the investigation initiative taken against some HC judges.

Such allegations against few other judges also run rife for long, according to the release.
To uphold the dignity of the judiciary, the President and the Chief Justice will take actions against them, they expressed hope.
Moreover, if allegations of corruption, favouritism and professional misconduct are found against any judges, they will not accord reception to them.
Earlier, upon consultation with President M Abdul Hamid, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain temporality relived three HC justices of judicial duties in connection with their alleged involvement in professional misconduct.
They are Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury, Quazi Reza-Ul Haque and AKM Zahirul Hoque.
An investigation is going on against them.
