Parwar, 48 Jamaat men acquitted in two cases in Khulna
A Khulna court today (24 September) acquitted the secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Prof Mia Golam Parwar and 49 Jamaat men in two cases filed against them as allegations bought against them were not proved.
Additional District and Session Judge Neela Karmokar acquitted them of the charges in presence of the accused including Prof Mia Golam Parwar after examining 19 witnesses.
Md Abu Yousuf Molla, lawyer of the accused, said police filed a case with Dumuria Police Station against 18 persons including Mizanur Rahman and other unidentified persons after recovering a bomb and Islamic books from Bamondia area of Dumuria upazila before general election in 2018.
Later, Golam Parwar was shown arrested in this case and later landed in Jail.
On 20 December 2018, police pressed charge sheet before the court against 50 persons including Parwar in two cases showing 30 witnesses.
Later, the court dropped Mowlana Isahaq Ali, the then Ameer of Dumuria upazila unit of Jamaat as he died during the trial.
Expressing satisfaction over the verdict, Parwar said the cases were political and motivated. He also hoped that he would get true justice in all false cases, filed against him during Awami League government tenures.
