Retake exams of expelled PEC candidates by Dec 28: High Court
The High Court issued the order when a local daily published a report titled 'Why are students expelled from PEC examination' on November 5.
The High Court today has ordered authorities concerned to retake the examinations of Primary Education Completion (PEC) students who were expelled for various reasons.
A High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman also asked the secretary of Primary and Mass Education and the director general of the Directorate of Primary Education to publish the results by December 31.
The court directed the director general of the Department of Primary Education to appear before the court on January 8 next for not providing information on the number of students expelled in the PEC examination this year.

The court also issued a ruling asking why the expelled students would not be allowed to sit again for the examinations.
Four education officials, including the primary and mass education secretary and the director general of the primary education department, were made respondents to the ruling.
Earlier on November 21 the High Court issued a ruling in this regard.
Lawyer Jamiul Haque Faisal told the court, "Those who have been expelled are 10 or 11 years old. Expelling a child of this age will have an impact on their mental growth. It is unfair to expel them. Other methods could have been adopted instead of expelling them."
