Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury sent to jail in Shamim murder case
Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury was arrested from the city’s Banani DOHS area on 17 October
A Dhaka court today (18 October) sent Trinamool BNP Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury to jail in a case lodged over the murder of Jubo Dal leader Shamim in 2023.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Afnan Somi passed the order, as police produced Chowdhury before the court and pleaded to keep him behind bars till the end of the probe.
Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury was arrested from the city's Banani DOHS area on 17 October.

According to the case documents, the BNP called a grand rally on 28 October 2023. To foil the programme, the Awami League also called its own grand rally in the capital. At one stage, Awami League goons, with the help of police, attacked the BNP's rally in Nayapaltan, killing Shamim on the spot.
The case was filed with the capital's Paltan Police Station on 24 September 2024.
