Supreme Court cancels vacations this year
A full court meeting of the Supreme Court judges was held on August 6 where the cancellation of all vacations effective from that very day was announced
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has cancelled all vacations, except public holidays, of the Supreme Court for the rest of the current year owing to a 66-day nationwide shutdown implemented to curb the Covid-19 spread.
Supreme Court spokesman Mohammad Saifur Rahman made the announcement on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar signed the notice in this regard.
According to the notice, a full court meeting of the Supreme Court judges was held on August 6 where the cancellation of all vacations effective from that very day was announced.

In addition to public holidays, there are long vacations for the judges of the Supreme Court. This has been going on since the British period.
The entire month of September is marked as a vacation on the calendar of the apex court. There is also a half-month holiday in December on the calendar.
Following the announcement of the chief justice, the activities of the apex court will be closed only during public holidays.
