Covid-19: Bangladesh Navy takes relief programmes to coastal districts
Under this humanitarian programme, food and financial aid were distributed among 700 fishermen families in Chattogram’s port area and Saint Martin’s island
To mitigate the sufferings of the underprivileged, made worse by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bangladesh Navy distributed cash aid and food relief in the country's coastal areas like Chattogram, Barishal, Patuakhali, Pirojpur, Khulna, Mongla, and Saint Martin's island.
Under this humanitarian programme, food and financial aid were distributed among 700 fishermen families in Chattogram's port area and Saint Martin's island, said a press statement issued by Assistant Director of Bangladesh Navy, Mohammad Rezaul Karim Shammi, on Saturday.
Another 400 marginalised families in Mongla of Bagerhat district, and 300 families in Patuakhali district also received cash aid, food, and iftar items.
Poor families in Barishal, Pirojpur and Khulna districts also received cash aid and food relief.
Besides this, the Navy men are also working on raising awareness of maintaining hygiene rules among people to curb the spread of the virus, the media statement read.
