The gold bars weighed some 1.16kg
Customs officials at the Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport on Tuesday seized 10 abandoned gold bars from the waste trolley of a Biman Bangladesh flight.
The gold bars were found after the waste trolley of a Biman flight, that arrived at Sylhet from Doha, was scanned on Tuesday morning (26 July).
The gold bars weighed some 1.16kg. The estimated value is about Tk1 crore, Customs House Revenue Officer Najasi Parvez told The Business Standard.
She said, "Acting on a tip-off we had searched all the passengers of this flight for smuggled gold. But nothing was found on them."
"However, as they disembarked from the plane, we scanned the waste trolleys and found the gold bars."
