The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested 26 members of the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League from various police stations under its jurisdiction in the past 24 hours, from 2pm on Sunday to 2pm on Monday, as part of ongoing special operation that began on 1 February.
Including these arrested, CMP arrested a total of 271 members of AL and its other affiliated organisation during the ongoing special operation in the last 10 days.
The arrested are accused in multiple cases, including attacks on protesters during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, violations of the Special Powers Act, and offenses under the Anti-Terrorism Act, said a press release issued by the Public Relation and Media wing of CMP.
CMP officials said further investigations are ongoing, and the arrested individuals will be produced before the court for legal proceedings.
Authorities have assured that strict actions will be taken against anyone involved in violent activities.
