8 Kushtia cops sacked for failing in dope tests
Among the sacked police officials, there are two sub-inspectors (SIs), two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) and the rest are constables
Eight policemen of Kushtia have been terminated as they turned out to be positive in dope tests.
District Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafat confirmed the matter to The Business Standard on Monday morning.
Among the sacked police officials, there are two sub-inspectors (SIs), two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) and the rest are constables.
"Besides, an investigation and departmental case are underway against two policemen including a sergeant," he said.
The SP ordered for dope testing of the first few policemen in May 2019 on the basis of suspicion and intelligence information.
Test reports found regular drug use of these members. Then in the one and half year, 11 people were dope tested periodically. Tests proved that 10 of them were using drugs.
These addicted policemen, working in different police stations and outposts of Kushtia, were initially transferred to other districts along with failing of the departmental case.
Finally, eight of them have been sacked as the investigation proved their drug use, added the SP.
