The Border Guard Bangladesh seized a variety of drugs and smuggled items worth around Tk72.39 crore in October.
The border guards also detained 292 people from different border areas in the country for their involvement in smuggling.
Besides, 46 Bangladeshis, 13 Indian nationals and five Nigerians were also held for illegally crossing the borders, according to a press release of the BGB.
The seized drugs include around 10 lakh pieces of Yaba tablet, 40,000 bottles of Phensidyl, 6,000 bottles of foreign liquor, 181 litres of local liquor, 686 cans of beer, 624 kilogrammes of marijuana, two kilogrammes of heroin, 16,000 pieces of Sanagra tablet, 3,500 injections and 96,000 other tablets.
Smuggled items include 8.29 kg gold, around 5,500 pieces of imitation jewellery, 95,000 cosmetics items, 2,000 pieces of sarees, 330 three-pieces and shirt pieces, 488 pieces of ready-made garments, one stone figurine, wood, around 3,000 kg of tea, 14 trucks, seven pick-up vans, three private cars, 17 auto rickshaws and 47 motorcycles.
The border guards also recovered three pistols, three revolvers, two guns, two pipe guns and 17 bullets in October.
