DB raids Regent owner Shahed’s Uttara residence
"Weapons and ammunition were recovered from Shahid's private car at that time"
A team of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a drive in the capital's Uttara residence of Regent Hospital's owner Shahed Karim in the case of faking Covid-19 test and embezzlement Saturday midnight.
Kazi Shafiul Alam, deputy commissioner of Detective Branch Uttara Division, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"DB members recovered five bottles of foreign alcohol, 10 bottles of Phensedyl, a pistol and one round of bullet from his car during the drive," said Kazi Shafiul Alam.

After the raid, two several cases were filed with the DMP's Uttara (west) police station against him in this incident.
On Thursday, the RAB filed another case against Shahed over allegations of keeping fake currencies. A day before, one more case was filed against him on charge of keeping illegal weapon.
On July 7, RAB sealed off Regent Hospital's head office in the capital, and two of the hospital's branches in Uttara and Mirpur, on charges of issuing fake Covid-19 certificates and conducting other misdeeds.
According to a RAB intelligence report, Regent Hospital collected samples from at least 10,000 people. Of them, only 4,200 got authentic Covid-19 test certificates and the rest were fake.
