DMP requests media not to spread misinformation regarding investigation on Papiya
The DMP said the investigation is still in the primary phase and the Detective Branch of police gave any specific information regarding this to the media
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday requested everyone concerned not to spread misinformation regarding the ongoing investigation on Shamima Nur Papiya, expelled general secretary of Jubo Mohila League's Narsingdi district unit.
"The detective branch of the DMP is currently interrogating Papiya, his husband Sumon, associate Sabbir Khondakar and Taiba Nur and cross-checking the information obtained from them," the press briefing states.
The DMP said the investigation is still in the primary phase and the Detective Branch of police gave any specific information regarding this to the media.
"However some media outlets have published reports about the investigation without talking to the investigators. These reports also contain information and names of some persons which are not consistent with the information obtained by the investigators," said the press release.
"This is creating social and mental pressure on the investigating officers and hampering the investigation," said the press release adding that the, "'
Earlier on Feburuary 22, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-1 arrested Papiya and three others from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The elite crime-busting agency members recovered seven passports, Tk2,12,270, fake note of Tk25,600, USD 11,481, Sri Lankan 420 rupee, Indian 301 rupee and two debit cards from their possessions.
Following her arrest, Papiya was expelled from Jubo Mohila League.
