Hridoy murder: 3 accused placed on 5-day remand
Police arrested seven of the accused so far
Hridoy, a teenager who had been beaten to death publicly over a trivial matter on Eid day, was laid to rest at his home in Barguna's Lobongola village on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, the court granted a five-day remand for three of the seven accused – arrested in Hridoy's murder case.
Senior Judicial Magistrate of Barguna Court Md Abbas Uddin granted remand for them on Wednesday afternoon. He also gave the order to send the four juvenile accused to jail.
Sarojit Kumar Ghosh, Barguna Sadar police station inspector and also the investigating officer of the case said, "The seven-day remand for three adult accused – Noman Kazi, Helal Mridha and Helal Fakir – was asked from a virtual court. The court later granted five days for each of them."
"The four juvenile accused were also asked to be remanded for seven days. Fixing the next day for remand hearing, the court gave the order to send them to jail.
Earlier on Monday afternoon, Hridoy went for a walk with his friends at Golbunia Bulk Yard on the banks of the Payra River in Barguna. To settle an old score, the accused harassed a female friend of Hridoy who was with him at that time. When Hridoy protested, the two sides got into an argument. The accused beat Hridoy and some of his friends, leaving them seriously injured.
Later, the locals rescued the injured and admitted them to the Barguna General Hospital. The critically injured Hridoy was sent to the Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment. He died on early Tuesday while undergoing treatment there.
Hridoy's mother Firoza Begum later filed a case on that day citing the names of 20 people involved in the murder of her son.
Of the accused, police so far arrested Noman Kazi, 18, Helal Mridha, 26, Sagar Gazi, 16, Emon Hawlader, 18, Rana Akon, 16, Shafiqul Islam Gharami, 15, and Helal Fakir, 21.
